5A Semifinals Recap: Corner Canyon Upsets Olympus, Will Face Jordan In Finals

OGDEN, Utah – The 5A boys basketball semifinal round featured four of the best teams in the state of Utah fighting for a chance to play for a state championship.
After shocking top-ranked Olympus, Corner Canyon will play for the state championship on Saturday.
Jordan ended East’s run and will face the Chargers for the title.
Here’s a roundup of how both teams advanced to the championship game.
Corner Canyon 77, Olympus 69
The Chargers were on fire from the floor, shooting 64 percent from the field in the second half to power past top-seeded Olympus and into the state championship game.
Down 56-50 late in the game, the Chargers surged to a 14-2 lead to take the lead and never looked back on their way to the victory.
Gabe Toombs had a game-high 29 points while Hayden Welling had a 25-point, 14-rebound double-double.

Future University of Utah point guard Rylan Jones nearly had a triple-double with 25 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds in a losing effort.

Jordan 60, East 52
Dyson Koehler and Micah Ashman formed a formidable 1-2 punch, combining for 39 points to end the Leopards’ deep run in the playoffs.
The Beetdiggers outscored East 21-11 in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket to the state championship game.
Taylor Zwick led the Leopards with 18 points.
