SUU Continues Best Big Sky Season Ever With Win Over Idaho

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Southern Utah Thunderbirds clinched its best season win total since the 2011-12 season with an 85-76 victory over Idaho.
The victory also gave the Thunderbirds their ninth win in Big Sky Conference play, their most since joining the conference.

“It was a solid performance today,” SUU head coach Todd Simon said. “Anytime you can get a win it’s a good performance, but we felt like we controlled the game for the most part which is a sign of our maturity.”
Harrison Butler led the way for SUU with 21 points and three 3-pointers made. He also completed a double-double with 13 rebounds.
Cameron Oluyitan also turned in a strong performance with 17 points while knocking down three 3-pointers of his own.

The Idaho bench was held to just 12 points as a group, while the Thunderbirds’ bench put up 22 points.
SUU moved to 14-12 overall and 9-8 in conference play.

The Thunderbirds will next hit the road to face first-place Montana on Saturday at 7 p.m.
