Southern Utah Thunderbirds National Signing Day Commitments

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University announced their signing class on National Letter of Intent Day.

Thunderbirds head coach Demario Warren and his staff have put a focus on the offensive side of the football with most of the recruits on offense. They have focused even more on play makers with most of the signing class consisting of wide receivers.

John Mitchell, Wide Receiver

Mitchell is a wide receiver from Corner Canyon High School. He joins the Thunderbirds after racking up 1,250 yards on 53 catches and 13 touchdowns during his senior season, winning a state championship.

Zach Nelson, Wide Receiver

The three-star prospect joins Southern Utah from Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Arizona. He is 6-1, 190 lbs. and is the No. 54 prospect in the state of Arizona.

Brock McChesney, Defensive Back

McChesney is a defensive back from Lone Peak High School. He is the younger brother of BYU safety Austin McChesney. Brock helped Lone Peak win a state championship in 2018. Demario Warren posted on Twitter that McChesney will serve an LDS mission before joining the Thunderbirds.

Kohner Cullimore, Linebacker

The Highland High School product joins Southern Utah from Gilbert, Arizona.

Brandon Schenks, Wide Receiver

Another wide receiver joins the Thunderbirds. Schenks is from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. He originally committed verbally to Air Force before going to Cedar City.


Jet Richins, Linebacker

The Stansbury High School product is a 6-1, 185 lbs. linebacker. He committed to Southern Utah back on January 23.

Dayne Christiansen, Running Back

Another local product is going to Cedar City, Christiansen is from Pleasant Grove High School. He earned first team All-State and Academic All-State. Christiansen will join Southern Utah after serving an LDS mission.

Dallin Brown, Wide Receiver

Another wide receiver from the state of Utah as Brown goes north from St. George to Cedar City. He is a 6-0, 190 lbs. wide out from Pine View High School.


Lyle Santos, Offensive Lineman

Santos is a 6-3, 235 lbs. lineman from Arbor View High School in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Billy Davis, Linebacker

Teammates with Santos at Arbor View High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. Davis is a 6-0, 220 lbs. linebacker that committed on December 8.

Clayton Johnson, Tight End

Johnson heads to Cedar City after a successful career at Springville High School.

Khalid Taylor, Defensive Back

Taylor joins the Thunderbirds from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California.

Mason Creager, Defensive Lineman

Ceager will have a short drive on the highway when he attends Southern Utah. The Desert Hills High School product is 6-3, 225 lbs.

Kingsley Holliday, Offensive Lineman

Holliday helped Corner Canyon reach the state championship game on the offensive line. He is 6-2, 285 lbs.

Rylen Su’a-Filo, Defensive Lineman

Su’a-Filo is a 6-2, 260 lbs. defensive lineman from Orem High School, where he won back-to-back state titles. He will join the Thunderbirds in two years after he serves an LDS mission.


Derek Reese, Tight End

Reese is 6-4, 220 lbs. from Moapa Valley High School in Logandale, Nevada.

Riley Morris, Linebacker

Morris hopes to make an impact at the linebacker position at Southern Utah. He is a 6-0, 185 lbs. backer from Thatcher High School in Arizona.

Isaiah Williams, Wide Receiver

Williams is from Olympian High School in Chula Vista, California.


Canaan Yarro, Offensive Lineman 

Yarro is an in-state product from Timpview High School in Provo, Utah.


Drew Carter, Athlete

Carter is a two-star athlete from Camarillo, California.


Zach Molina, Wide Receiver

Molina is from Red Mountain High School in Mesa High School.


Thomas Duckett, Running Back

Duckett is from Pacifica High School in Oxnard, California.

Kani Taufa, Linebacker

Taufa joins the Thunderbirds from Timpview High School.


Cervontes White, Defensive Back

White heads to Cedar City from Las Vegas, Nevada.


Noah Smith, Running Back

Smith moves east one state from Lincoln County High School in Nevada.


Zack Shepherd, Quarterback

Shepherd will join the Thunderbirds after he serves a two-year LDS mission in Italy. He is from Gilbert, Arizona.


Remedy Akoteu, Defensive Lineman

He is a 6-3, 200 lbs. defensive lineman from Alta High School.


Aiden Gordon, Offensive Lineman


Drake Fakahua, Running Back

Fakahua will stay in the same city where he went to high school. He is from Cedar High School.


Briasen Harward, Athlete

Harward heads south to play college football at Southern Utah from Bingham High School.


Charles Johnson, Defensive Back

Johnson will join Southern Utah from San Diego High School. He committed during the early signing period in December.
