Southern Utah Thunderbirds National Signing Day Commitments

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Southern Utah University announced their signing class on National Letter of Intent Day.
Thunderbirds head coach Demario Warren and his staff have put a focus on the offensive side of the football with most of the recruits on offense. They have focused even more on play makers with most of the signing class consisting of wide receivers.
John Mitchell, Wide Receiver
Mitchell is a wide receiver from Corner Canyon High School. He joins the Thunderbirds after racking up 1,250 yards on 53 catches and 13 touchdowns during his senior season, winning a state championship.

Zach Nelson, Wide Receiver
The three-star prospect joins Southern Utah from Casteel High School in Queen Creek, Arizona. He is 6-1, 190 lbs. and is the No. 54 prospect in the state of Arizona.

Brock McChesney, Defensive Back
McChesney is a defensive back from Lone Peak High School. He is the younger brother of BYU safety Austin McChesney. Brock helped Lone Peak win a state championship in 2018. Demario Warren posted on Twitter that McChesney will serve an LDS mission before joining the Thunderbirds.

Another wide receiver joins the Thunderbirds. Schenks is from Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona. He originally committed verbally to Air Force before going to Cedar City.

The Stansbury High School product is a 6-1, 185 lbs. linebacker. He committed to Southern Utah back on January 23.
