Beavers Come Out Firing, Hang On For Win
After a slight delay due to a malfunction with the shot clock about five minutes into the game, the action resumed and Oregon State was red hot.
The Beavers broke a 9-all tie by reeling off a 16-2 run that gave them a commanding 14-point lead over the Utes. Utah finally snapped the run with a 3-poiner by Sedrick Barefield with 8:33 remaining in the half.
While the basket opened up a bit for the Utes, the Beavers kept up the pressure through their offense, making eight of their last 10 shots of the half to take a 46-32 lead at halftime.

Oregon State cooled off significantly to start the second half, turning over the ball five times in the first five minutes or so of the half. The Utes went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 53-47.
The Utes mounted a tough stretch on defense, holding Oregon State scoreless for about three minutes while going on another 6-0 scoring run.
After more resistance from the Beavers, the Utes made another push for the lead, making three straight shots to cut Oregon State’s lead to 71-67 with two minutes to go. Unfortunately for the Utes, Oregon State’s Tres Tinkle, son of Beavers head coach Wayne Tinkle, drained a 3-pointer to keep the Utes at bay. The Utes never got any loss as the Beavers survived with a nine-point victory.
