ALICANTE, Spain – Playing on international duty for the U.S. National Team, Utah Royals FC star Christen Press found the back of the net in a 1-0 victory over Spain.
It was the first ever international meeting between the two nations and Press came away as the lone goal scorer thanks to a great individual effort in the 54th minute.

Just a few minutes after subbing in at halftime, Press received the ball near midfield on a pass from Rose Lavelle. From there, Press sprinted past two defenders and fired a low shot that passed the Spanish goalkeeper. A Spanish defender attempted to clear the ball but ended up putting it in her own net for the game’s only goal.
In 11 games for the Royals in 2018, Press scored twice.
