CHENEY, Wash. – The Weber State Wildcats picked up a hard-earned Big Sky Conference road victory over Eastern Washington, 84-72.

Slow Start, Strong Finish

The Wildcats looked sluggish coming out of the gates and allowed the Eagles to build an early 21-8 lead in the opening 10 minutes. The Wildcats would respond however, with a quick 21-6 run to overtake the Eagles at 29-27 with about four and a half minutes remaining in the first half. At halftime, Weber State would continue its improved play and took a 37-33 lead into the break.

The Wildcats rolled in the second half and expanded their lead to as much as 23. With many of the starters on the bench at the end of the game, the Eagles made the game’s score look much more respectable in what was ultimately a 12-point loss.

By The Numbers

Cody John and Caleb Nero led the Wildcats with 19 points each. Nero had a nearly perfect night shooting the ball, going 7-for-8 from the field.

Jerrick Harding also chipped in 18 points for the Wildcats’ victorious effort.

Eastern Washington’s Mason Peatling was the game’s high scorer with 25 points.

Next Up

The Wildcats will remain on the road as they visit Idaho on Monday at 3 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Pluto TV.
