FRESNO, Calif. – After scoring 113 points against BYU on December 1, Weber State couldn’t get many shots to fall as they lost to Fresno State 71-52.
Weber State had a solid start to the game but after the game was tied at 17, Fresno State went on a 13-3 run in the last six minutes of the first half to take a 30-20 lead into the locker room.
Weber State Shooting Struggles
The Wildcats couldn’t get their shots to fall in the first half as they shot just 7-of-27 from the field, including 2-of-12 from the three-point-line. Five Weber State players found the score sheet in the first 20 minutes of play, led by Cody John with 8 points, the other four players didn’t score more than four points.
Fresno State’s only downfall was that they couldn’t hit from the perimeter as well, shooting 4-of-15. They shot 43 percent from the field on 13-30 shooting but allowed Weber State to stay in the game with 12 first half turnovers.
The Bulldogs managed to score 41 points in the second half and held the Wildcats to 32. They were consistent shooting the basketball with 45 percent shooting from the field in the second half. Weber State improved their percentage from the field in the last 20 minutes of the game with 41 percent.
But the three’s were not there as they finished with a 20 percent clip from the perimeter. That was a completely different performance shooting the three-pointer as a team against BYU as they hit 11 of their 25 three-point attempts.
John finished with 17 points and five rebounds while Jerrick Harding chipped in 13 points, they were the only Wildcats to score in double figures.
Fresno State had four players score in double figures, led by Braxton Huggins with 17, Noah Blackwell added 16 points and Nate Grimes had 14 points.
