Lone Peak Shuts Down Pleasant Grove; Advances to 6A Championship

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Lone Peak Knights relied on their defense to punch the second ticket to the 6A Championship game, picking up a 29-0 win over Pleasant Grove.
Lone Peak rushed for 101 yards, led by Kobe Freeman who had 63 yards and one touchdown.
Knights quarterback Braden Siri had 60 yards passing on 4-of-14 attempts.
“He dislocated his shoulder during the game,” Lone Peak head coach Bart Brockbank said after the game. “He made the right throws when he needed too.”
Pleasant Grove quarterback Jake Jensen had 189 yards and four interceptions. Running back Dayne Christiansen had 81 yards on the ground for the Vikings.
Michael Daley set up the first touchdown for Lone Peak as the Knights recovered the ball at the one yard line. Eric Child scored a rushing touchdown on the next play. Daley had 9 total tackles, two and a half sacks and three and a half tackles for loss to go with his blocked punt.
The Knights returned an interception for a touchdown as Brock McChesney went 42 yards to give Lone Peak the 29-0 win.
Lone Peak will face American Fork in the 6A Championship. The game will be played on Friday, November 16 at Rice Eccles Stadium.
“I expect this game to be a blood bath,” said Brockbank when asked about facing American Fork again.
The Championship game will mark the second meeting between these two teams. American Fork beat Lone Peak 51-21 on September 21.
