ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Dixie State Trailblazers knocked off No. 6-ranked Colorado School of Mines 52-45 in a major Division II upset.
Saturday’s win was the biggest upset victory since the Trailblazers joined Division II in 2006.
In a shootout filled with multiple lead changes, the Trailblazers got the last laugh with a 18-yard touchdown pass from Michael Sanders to Xavier Smith with only 24 seconds remaining in the game. The winning touchdown drive was set up by an interception by Abraham Reinhardt after Dixie State missed what would have been a go-ahead field goal.
