Park City celebrates their upset win over Sky View as they advance to the 4A semifinals.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The quarterfinals of the 4A UHSAA football state tournament is in the books. Eight teams competed in the second round, only four teams clinched a berth into the semifinals at Rice Eccles Stadium.

KSL Sports takes a look at all of the quarterfinal action.

The Results For 4A

Region 11 No. 2-seed Park City Miners 15

Region 12 No. 1-seed Sky View Bobcats 14

Park City pulled off the big upset as they knocked off undefeated Sky View to go to the semifinals. The Bobcats scored the first touchdown, Park City answered with a touchdown of their own to tie the game in the third quarter. Sky View scored again early in the fourth quarter. Park City quarterback Jack Skidmore connected with Mark McCurdy to bring them within one point, 14-13. The Miners were successful on the two point conversion as Skidmore ran the ball into the end zone with 7:40 left in the game to complete the upset.

Park City will face Region 9 No. 1-seed Dixie in the semifinals.

 

Region 9 No. 1-seed Dixie Flyers 31

Region 10 No. 2-seed Spanish Fork Dons 20 

Dixie scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 21-13 lead at the half. The Flyers scored 10 points in the third quarter and held Spanish Fork to one touchdown. Dixie quarterback Reggie Graff threw three touchdown passes in the win.

The Flyers will take on Region 11 No. 2-seed Park City in the semifinals.

 

Region 10 No. 1-seed Orem Tigers 58

Region 12 No. 3-seed Mountain Crest Mustangs 28

After the Mustangs took a 7-6 lead in the first quarter, Orem answered with 31 points in the second quarter and 14 in the third period. With a 51-7 lead in the fourth, it was too much for Mountain Crest. Tigers quarterback Cooper Legas threw six touchdowns, two of those to Puka Nacua.

Orem will face Region 9 No. 3-seed Pine View in the semifinals.

 

Region 9 No. 3-seed Pine View Panthers 65

Region 11 No. 1-seed Stansbury Stallions 41

Pine View quarterback Dallin Brown had two rushing touchdowns to start the Panthers rout. They scored two touchdowns or more in every quarter. Stansbury scored their first touchdown in the second quarter.

Pine View will take on Region 10 No. 1-seed Orem in the semifinals.
