Riverton To Host American Fork In First Round Of 6A Playoffs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Although the American Fork Cavemen finished the season with a better record, the Riverton Silver Wolves will be hosting the first round playoff game between the two schools.
As for whether having the home field advantage on Friday will actually be an advantage, Riverton head coach Jody Morgan isn’t so sure.
“I just think that no matter where you play, the better team wins,” said Morgan.
Morgan continued to say that although his players are excited to host a playoff game for the first time in four years, there are mixed emotions. The reason being, American Fork is really good.
Led by quarterback Boone Abbott, who has thrown for 34 touchdowns this year, the Cavemen come into the playoffs with a potent offensive attack. They’ve won big all year and their two losses have both been close, with defeats at the hands of Timpview and Bingham.
Riverton comes into the game having lost two of their last three. They have more of a balanced attack, led by running back Dayne McDonald who has a team-high 567 yards gained on the ground.
The game will kick off Friday at 5 p.m. and be broadcast live on the KSLTV app as part of Game Night Live.
