FARMINGTON, Utah – Farmington High School played its first ever home game Friday night against Northridge. It was a game to remember for the Phoenix, but not because of the score.
The Knights rolled onto the new turf at Farmington and walked out with a 36-0 victory.
As for why the Phoenix weren’t able to score in its first game in front of their home crowd, head coach and former Northridge, BYU and NFL star Daniel Coats took the blame squarely on himself.
“It was me,” said Coats. “I didn’t have them prepared for it. It’s one of those learning things that I wish I had every answer, but I just didn’t.”
“We were out for blood tonight,” said Northridge senior Carson Stokes. “We’ve been scrimmaging these guys all summer long and it just all fell into place.”
Farmington will try for its first win of the season against Murray on Thursday. Northridge will host Syracuse on Friday.
