SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Jazz and current Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell hyped up Cleveland Browns fans ahead of a Thursday night matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns hosted the Steelers on Thursday, September 22.

Mitchell attended the game wearing a No. 45 Browns jersey and a “Brownie the Elf” hat.

Before the game, Mitchell got the Browns fans ready for the divisional contest by smashing a Steelers guitar over a speaker featuring Cleveland’s helmet logo. After a couple of swings, the guitar was demolished and shattered into pieces.

In addition to being the home of the Browns, Cleveland is where the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is located.

Mitchell also spoke to Thursday Night Football’s Taylor Rooks before the game and said his new team, the Cavs, have “a team that’s ready to compete.”

The Jazz traded Mitchell to Cleveland in early September.

“We got to watch you light up the league as a rookie and cheer you on as you became a perennial All-Star,” the Jazz thanked Mitchell in a post to social media. “We witnessed you embrace and serve our community while standing for what’s right and uniting Jazz fans everywhere. Thank you for all the good you did here @spidadmitchell.”

Mitchell’s Time In Utah

Mitchell spent five seasons with the Jazz. He appeared in 345 games with 337 starts, averaging 23.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest, while shooting 44% from the field and 36% from the three-point line.

The Louisville product increased his scoring average in each of the first three seasons. During the 2020-21 campaign, Mitchell averaged 26.4 points per contest before going down to 25.9 this past season.

Mitchell helped the Jazz reach the playoffs in each of his five seasons with the organization. He played 39 games, posting averages of 28.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 43% from the floor and 36% from downtown.

During the postseason, Mitchell scored 30 points or more in 19 games, 40 points or more in four games, and 50 points or more twice. He dropped 57 points in the bubble in Game 1 against the Nuggets and 51 points in Game 4 of the same series.
