Former Utah Jazz Forward John Drew Passes Away

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Jazz forward John Drew passed away following a battle with bone cancer, according to his family via AL.com.
The Vredenburgh, Alabama native passed away at the age of 67 in Houston, Texas.
Drew played for the Jazz from 1982-84.

Prior to his NBA career, Drew played college basketball at Gardner-Webb.
He was selected with the No. 25 overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks during the second round of the 1974 NBA Draft.

After nearly a decade in Atlanta, the Hawks traded Drew to the Jazz in exchange for Dominique Wilkins.

Drew played three seasons with Utah. The forward battled a drug addiction throughout his career and was waived by the Jazz following a relapse.

Drew finished his NBA career as a two-time All-Star. He had career averages of 20.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game.

After his time in the NBA, Drew played for the Wyoming Wildcatters of the Continental Basketball Association from 1984-86.
