This article about starting your kids ski adventures is presented by Rocky Mountain Chevy Dealers and Ski Utah.
Before he was a placekicker for the University of Utah football team, Andy Phillips was a member of the U.S. Ski Team. Now that he has a young family, Andy wants to share some of his favorite tips on how to start your young ones on the slopes, and how to get them loving the slopes as much as you do.
In Episode 1 of “Learn to Ski with Max & Andy,” Andy talks about how to get your children ready for their day on the slopes. Andy and his son Max will walk you through the basics to get your little ones started.
Equipment for Your Kids Ski Adventures
Obviously, you’ll want to start with a warm coat, pants, gloves, socks and a hat/helmet. Make sure your child can move in their attire though. And try not to double up on things, especially socks. That can actually cut off circulation making them colder in the end. You may also want to consider a neck gator, goggles, thermals, and hand/foot warmers.
Getting Your Little Ones Dressed

Your first instinct may be to bundle your child up to keep them warm. But, try not to double up on things, especially socks. That can actually cut off circulation making them colder in the end. Then make sure everything is adjusted correctly. Those helmets and goggles should fit snugly, but shouldn’t be uncomfortable. They also shouldn’t be too loose.
Tips and Tricks
First, don’t upsize kids ski boots or their ski size expecting them to grow into them. This way your child won’t be uncomfortable in a size that doesn’t fit them. Will they grow out of them faster? Yes. but it’s worth your child being comfortable at this phase to ensure they have a good experience at such a young age
