SALT LAKE CITY – The Mr. Mac Utah County High School Player of the Week is awarded each week to the top prep boy’s and girl’s basketball players in Utah County. Sponsored by Mr. Mac, it honors athletes for their performances on the court and exceptional play. Our winners for week two were Easton Hawkins from Lehi High School and Kennedy Woolston from Lone Peak High School.

Utah County Players of the Week – Easton Hawkins, Lehi & Kennedy Woolston, Lone Peak

Hawkins and the Lehi Pioneers racked up a 2-1 record with three games in three days testing their endurance. In an 81-43 rout of Jordan High School, Hawkins racked up 15 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal. He followed that up with 23 points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal as Lehi downed Meridian (ID) 79-57 in their first game of the showcase event put on by Corner Canyon High School.

In their third game of the week, the tired legs caught up with Lehi in a 64-52 loss to Herriman High School. Lehi fell behind early in the game and never were able to muster enough offense to mount a comeback. Hawkins finished the game with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds.

Woolston and the Lone Peak Knights rolled to a 2-0 record on the week thanks to their prolific offense. In a 71-23 rout of Layton High School, Lone Peak racked up a 38-18 halftime lead but exploded in the third quarter for 26 points to erase all doubt as to the outcome. Their defense also sunk its claws into the Lancers as Layton failed to register a single point in the fourth quarter. Woolston stuffed the state sheet in the win with 26 points, seven rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks.

Lone Peak carried that momentum into a home contest against West Jordan High School two days later. The Knights used a strong first half to take a 31-18 lead into the locker room. After a back-and-forth third quarter, Woolston and her teammates used a 22-point surge in the final frame to take a 63-42 victory. Woolston racked up 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block in the victory.
