SALT LAKE CITY — The No. 14 Green Canyon Wolves stayed alive in the 4A high school football playoffs on Friday, defeating the No. 11 Skyline Eagles on the road 28-26.

After a scoreless first quarter, Green Canyon took control in the second and led 14-7 at the half. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was tied at 14-14.

In the final frame, both teams scored two touchdowns, and the difference would be made on special teams. The Wolves routinely split the uprights on both scores. The Eagles missed the first kick, forcing them into a late two-point conversion attempt. The Green Canyon defense held strong on the goal line, which led to the two-point victory.

No. 14 Green Canyon will face No. 2 Crimson Cliffs in the 4A semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Friday, November 14 at 6:00 PM.

The Ridgeline Riverhawks scored 35 points in the first half, paving the way for their quarterfinal win over the Park City Miners on Friday.

Quarterback Nate Dahle finished with a hat trick of touchdowns, two on the ground and one through the air. Five different Ridgeline players scored against Park City.

One other person besides Dahle saw two trips to the end zone. Colton Clark had a 22-yard rushing TD in the first quarter and followed that with a 21-yard pick-six in the second.

No. 1 Ridgeline will face No. 5 Provo in the 4A semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 PM.

No. 5 Provo Bulldogs 28 @ No. 4 Hurricane Tigers 13

The Provo Bulldogs scored 21 points in the second quarter of their win over the Hurricane Tigers on Friday.

Provo quarterback Gehrig Orchard’s fingerprints were left all over the win. Other than a Ronnie Wright eushing score in the second quarter, all other touchdowns were scored by Orchard.

He threw two TDs and added a third with his legs in the second quarter. The halftime score of 28-13 would hold until the final whistle.

No. 7 Stansbury Stallions 14 @ No. 2 Crimson Cliffs Mustangs 35

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs left no doubt in their win over the Stansbury Stallions on Friday.

The Stallions actually struck first, taking a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. But it was almost all Crimson Cliffs from there. They would score 35 unanswered points before Stansbury was able to find the end zone again later in the fourth.

Mustangs running back Kade Shaw punched in three scores in the win.

No. 2 Crimson Cliffs will face No. 14 Green Canyon Skyline in the 4A semifinals at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Friday, November 14 at 6:00 PM.
