ST. PAUL, Minnesota – Barrett Hayton was in the right place at the right time, deflecting a Nick DeSimone shot into the net for an early 1-0 lead.
Utah HC (20-19-7, 47 points) face the Wild (28-15-4, 60 points) at Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota on Thursday, January 23. These teams have split two games already this season. Minnesota won in a shoot-out at Delta Center on December 10 before falling 2-1 at home on December 20.

On an early rush, DeSimone ripped a shot at the net. Hayton got just enough of the puck with his stick to squeeze the puck by Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson. The goal came 1:46 into the first period.
Hayton has ten goals this season. The assist was DeSimone’s second with the club.
Utah is outshooting Minnesota 3-1 in the first five minutes.
