SALT LAKE CITY – Utah football head coach Kyle Whittingham was the keynote speaker for the University of Utah’s Student Union’s inaugural Scholarship Speaker Series and revealed the team plans to rename their spring game in honor Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe.
It’s been two years since the Utes lost Jordan and Lowe in shocking and heartbreaking fashion. Whittingham candidly told the audience the team is still processing what happened to this day while noting that experience was “as trying as it gets for a football coach.”
Whittingham has often stated the Utes will never get over what happened to their teammates, but they will get through it. Part of getting through the tragedy has been finding ways to keep Jordan and Lowe’s spirit alive with the latest move being to rename the Red and White spring game.

22 Forever Game
The number 22 has been an important one for Utah since Jordan and Lowe’s passing since both players donned the now retired numeral.
With that in mind, the Utes have moved to change their spring game from the “Red and White Game” to the “22 Forever Game” in continued memory for their fallen brothers. The move aligns well with the date of Utah’s annual spring game which Whittingham revealed will land on April 22.
“To this day we talk about Ty and Aaron almost every day down at the facility,” Whittingham said at the Union Scholarship Speaker Series. “We remember the impact they had on the program- in fact, we are going to rename the spring game as the ’22 Forever Game’ and it happens to fall on the 22nd of April this year so that’s a good way to kick that off with that slogan for the game.”
I did nothing to manipulate it. It’s exactly how it was recorded on my phone.
I’ve talked to people around the building about this before and they say they get little signs like this from Jordan & Lowe all the time to this day.#GoUtes #22Forever #LLTJ #LLAL
