ATLANTA, Georgia – The college football season has boiled down to one game as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the CFP National Championship Game.
The CFP National Championship game will be played on Monday, January 20, at Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. MT. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN+.
The Irish have 11 national championships but have not won the sport’s ultimate prize since 1988. Ohio State looks for its seventh national title and first since 2014. Both head coaches, Ryan Day with Ohio State and Marcus Freeman with Notre Dame, seek their first national title.

The Buckeyes have dominated the all-time series. Ohio State is 6-2 against the Fighting Irish, with Notre Dame’s last win in 1936.
CFP National Championship – Notre Dame vs. Ohio State
Both teams have surprised with their romp into the title game.
No. 8 Ohio State opened the playoffs with a 42-17 win over Tennessee. The Buckeyes then throttled No. 1 Oregon 41-21 in the Rose Bowl to set up a date with No. 5 Texas in the Cotton Bowl. The Buckeyes were no match for Texas, running away with a 28-14 win.
No. 7 Notre Dame knocked off Indiana 27-17 before sending No. 2 Georgia home with a 23-10 win in the Sugar Bowl. The Fighting Irish fell behind Penn State early in the Orange Bowl but rallied for a 27-24 victory.
