University Of Oregon Apologizes To BYU For Offensive Chant During Football Game

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon has apologized to BYU for a chant during Saturday’s game at Autzen Stadium.
A video surfaced on social media (NOTE: Language Warning) showing Oregon’s student, The Pit Crew, chanting a message about people affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. BYU’s ownership is the Latter-day Saint church.

Oregon’s “Pit Crew” Student Section Apologizes
Oregon’s student section also issued a statement hours after the game’s conclusion on Saturday night.
To all @BYUfootball fans in attendance at todays game we would like to apologize for the actions of the students in attendance. We do not condone or support any hateful speech directed towards one’s religion and are ashamed of those who participated.

Last season, when BYU played a football game at USC, students in the Trojans fan base had an offensive chant that led to the university issuing an apology.
