PROVO, Utah – BYU might face former OL Clark Barrington in 2023. That’s because Barrington is moving to a program in the Big 12.
Barrington announced that he would conclude his collegiate career with the Baylor Bears. A move that likely surprised no one as the four-year starter reunites with former BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes and offensive line coach Eric Mateos again.

Barrington also joins his younger brother, Campbell, who committed to Baylor earlier this month.
A member of Kalani Sitake’s first recruiting class in 2016, Barrington was once a two-star recruit out of University High School in Spokane, Washington. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before enrolling at BYU.
Barrington lost 70 pounds during his mission in Uganda.
But once he returned to his playing weight, Barrington became a star guard for BYU along the offensive line. During BYU’s dozen years as an FBS Independent program, he’s one of the best offensive linemen to come through the program.
Barrington started in 40 games for BYU and was a member of the 2020 offensive line unit that was a candidate for the Joe Moore Award. An award given to the best offensive line unit in college football.
Barrington is the sixth BYU transfer to land at a Power Five program in the 2023 transfer portal cycle. He joins QB Jacob Conover (Arizona State), LB Tate Romney (Arizona State), EDGE Logan Fano (Utah), Campbell Barrington (Baylor), and LB Keenan Pili (Tennessee).
The Big 12 Conference has not released the football schedule for the 2023 season. However, reports have suggested that the schedule, which will include 14 teams in the league with BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston as new members, being released in February.
