BYU TE Isaac Rex Records First Career Touchdown Catch

PROVO, Utah – BYU freshman tight end Isaac Rex scored his first career touchdown in the second quarter against Troy on Saturday night.
It was the first catch of the night for Rex as quarterback Zach Wilson found him for an 10-yard touchdown to give BYU a 21-0 lead with 1:49 left in the first half.
Wilson threw his first touchdown pass of the night which was added to a rushing TD that he scored earlier in the half.

Rex is expected to step up in place of star tight end Matt Bushman, who suffered a season ending injury just before the Navy game on Labor Day. Through the first half against Troy, Wilson had a very productive 30 minutes of football. Wilson completed 16 of his 19 pass attempts for 246 yards and two total touchdowns (one passing, one rushing). He found Gunner Romney four times for 101 yards.
A late field goal by Jake Oldroyd gave BYU a 24-7 lead at the half.
Lopini Katoa and Tyler Allgeier combined for 72 yards on 13 carries in the opening half. BYU’s defense allowed Troy to score one touchdown on just 133 yards of total offense, 115 passing and 18 rushing.
