Itโs hard to put into words the impact that Mike Leach had on the players he coached, the game of football and me personally. He was a unique personality and independent thinker and a great friend. No one had a greater influence on my life other than my father. Rest In Peace coach

This job is amazing. But it canโt be done unless people let you in.
In 2014, three months after moving to the west coast I heard that Mike Leach walked to work every day. I asked if I could join one day. He didnโt really know me but he said โSure. Wear good shoes.โ pic.twitter.com/oytu9E23Gv

Mike Leach was more than an incredible, innovative, impactful, successful, popular football coach. He was all that as a husband to Sharon and a father to Janeen, Kimberly, Cody & Kiersten! Brilliant, thoughtful, kind man who taught me so much in so many different ways. RIP Coach! pic.twitter.com/blaNBbhLfi

Covering Mike Leach was funny because heโd refuse to offer anything worthwhile about his team one minute, then give a thorough account of life with a pet raccoon the next.

My favorite Mike Leach quote comes from a story I wrote while visiting Pullman in 2017, describing the altered weekly routine as Wazzu prepped for a rare Friday night game with USC. https://t.co/nv2HhoRpQ4 pic.twitter.com/NZCksRuwoV

Mike Leach was a legend way before this moment, but this is when I knew him coming to the SEC was going to be everything I had hoped for and more.

I cannot begin to say what an honor and a privilege it was to cover Mike Leach. He was so much more than the cartoon character some painted him out to be. He was a legendary coach, but an even better man. My life has been enriched by knowing him. I will miss him terribly.

Mike Leach was a brilliant football mind.
Iโve always found his work in coaching to be fascinating.
His career arc was unique. Didnโt play football, had a law degree, and gave national spotlights and energy to low profile P5 programs.
