Crumbl CEO ‘Gets To Work’ On Keeping BYU’s Kalani Sitake Away From Penn State

PROVO, Utah – BYU football coach Kalani Sitake is the reported top target for Penn State in their head coach vacancy.

That reported news caught the attention of Crumbl CEO and BYU donor Jason McGowan.

He wrote on X, “Some people are not replaceable. Sounds like it is time for me to get off the sidelines and get to work.”

BYU fans are ready to make weekly runs to Crumbl with that type of talk.

You might remember seeing McGowan earlier in the football season, when he offered to pay the field-storming fine for BYU after fans rushed the field following the 24-21 win over rival Utah on October 18.

The fine was never imposed by the Big 12, so McGowan then paid off the lunch debt for all schools in the Provo and Salt Lake City school districts.

McGowan, in a separate post on X on Monday, December 1, asked, “Why do you love Kalani? What does it mean to you to have [Kalani Sitake] as our head coach at BYU?”

He continued on X, “Right now is the moment to let Kalani feel the love, respect, and gratitude of Cougar Nation. He has given everything to this program. Let’s show him how much he means to all of us.”

BYU fans began flooding their favorite memories of Sitake, who is in his 10th season as the head coach at his alma mater.

The post also inspired Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy a.k.a. “Provo Dave” to chime in.

“Provo Dave” asks Kalani Sitake to stay at BYU

“I arrived in Provo as a young man with [Big Noon Kickoff] not knowing what to expect. I was overwhelmed with all the love I received from Cougar Nation. From Cosmo to Kalani it was all love. From the ice cream to the dirty soda to the weird guy at the pizza shop it was all love. Coach Sitake danced his way into my heart. There is no place like Provo and Provo can’t exist without BYU football. And BYU football can’t exist without Kalani. And neither can #ProvoDave. Stay Kalani Stay!”

Fans were probably also chiming in on the incentive McGowan provided in his post: “To make it fun, I’m giving away four 50-yard line seats and airfare to the Big 12 Championship game for two incredible responses.”

Sitake has established himself as a winner at BYU.

The former BYU fullback is the winningest coach in the Big 12 Conference’s 16-team era, with a 22-3 record. He’s established himself as a winner, so that naturally draws interest from programs looking for a new head coach.

We will see if the push from boosters such as Jason McGowan can put BYU over the top in retaining Kalani Sitake in Provo.
