SALT LAKE CITY – For the second consecutive year, BYU football has picked up a commitment during the All-American Bowl on NBC.
California athlete McKay Madsen announced on Saturday he will be a BYU Cougar during a hat ceremony inside the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Last year, BYU landed Faletau Satuala at the All-American Bowl.

He picked BYU over finalists Oregon and UCLA.
As of Friday, a handful of Crystal Ball forecasts projected Madsen to commit to Oregon.
Madsen is a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He is the highest-rated commit in BYU’s 2025 recruiting class that, entering the day, was ranked 61st nationally by the 247Sports team recruiting rankings from high school prospects.
Madsen prepped at Clovis North High School in California, where he was a do-it-all star.
Most schools project Madsen as a linebacker at the next level. However, BYU also offered him as a running back. Both Justin Ena and Harvey Unga were involved in the recruitment of Madsen.
During his senior year at Clovis North, Madsen had 49 tackles, three tackles for loss, four interceptions, and two pass deflections. On the offensive side, he rushed for 1,238 yards on 140 carries and had 19 rushing touchdowns. Madsen also had two receiving touchdowns.
Madsen plans to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the next two years before enrolling at BYU. He will leave for a mission this summer.
BYU football is now up to 19 commitments in the class of 2025.
