BYU’s Blake Mangelson Injured On First Colorado Alamo Bowl Possession

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – When BYU defensive lineman Blake Mangelson went down with a first-quarter injury, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders checked on the injured player before Mangelson made his way to the sideline with trainers.
No. 17 BYU ends the 2024 campaign in the Valero Alamo Bowl against Heisman Trophy-winner Travis Hunter and the No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes.

The Nephi, Utah native has been an integral part of the Cougars defense this season. From the defensive end position, Mangelson entered the Alamo Bowl with 37 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and two sacks while playing every game.

While Mangelson was on the turf, talking with trainers near the Buffaloes’ sideline, Coach Prime offered the senior a word of encouragement before walking away. The BYU training staff continues to work on Mangelson as Colorado mounts its second drive.
BYU capitalized on great field position on their second drive, needing six plays to go 52 yards and take a 7-0 lead after a one-yard LJ Martin touchdown run.
