Moa will have two years of eligibility for the Spartans.
Former Oregon State head coach Jonathan Smith is now the head coach at Michigan State. When Smith was at Oregon State, his staff recruited Moa during his high school career.
Moa was on an official visit to East Lansing last week and has since shut down his portal recruitment.
Moa was a heralded four-star prospect coming out of Weber High School in the 2022 recruiting cycle. He was the 342nd prospect nationally that season.
According to 247Sports’ ratings, Moa was the 23rd highest-rated signee BYU has landed in the internet era.
BYU career snapshot for Aisea “Ice” Moa
Initially, Moa began his BYU career as an EDGE rusher. He redshirted during the 2022 season.
Moa didn’t crack the depth chart during his redshirt freshman season in 2023, so he was switched to linebacker in 2024.
Moa lost 10 pounds, dropping from 245 to 235, and appeared to find a home within BYU’s linebacker unit. He finished the 2024 season with 16 tackles and one forced fumble.
The only problem was that BYU was deep at the linebacker spot, with Isaiah Glasker and Jack Kelly leading the way at the outside linebacker spots.
Moa finished his BYU career with 17 tackles in 16 game appearances over three seasons.
He is the first former BYU football player in the 2025 transfer portal cycle to land at a power conference program.
