Big 12 Basketball Power Rankings: Conference Play Is Almost Here

SALT LAKE CITY – Big 12 basketball is heading into the home stretch of non-conference play.

The conference schedule begins on December 30. For the first time in the league, it includes 20 games.

The Big 12 is currently ranked as the No. 3 conference in the KenPom metrics. They trail the Big Ten barely for the No. 2 spot, but there’s some distance between the Big 12 and SEC, which has all 16 teams in the top 68 of the KenPom ratings.

The top six spots in the weekly power rankings remained the same, but there was movement in the middle.

Arizona State suffered a blowout loss to undefeated Florida in Atlanta last week. That setback caused the biggest shakeup this week.

This week, there are some intriguing non-conference tilts: K-State hosts Drake, Cincinnati takes on Dayton in an in-state Top 25 clash, and Utah travels to South Dakota to face Iowa.
