Utah Jazz Snap Losing Streak In Win Over Orlando Magic At Delta Center

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz broke their season-long losing streak while also sweeping the season series with the Orlando Magic in a 113-99 win at Delta Center on Saturday.
Utah caught Orlando on a bad shooting night and took advantage from the jump. They went up by double digits in the first quarter and led by as much as 21. The Magic shot an abysmal 33 percent from the floor and 22 percent from deep.
Other than Franz Wagner and Cole Anthony who had 37 and 23 respectively, the Magic had no reliable sources of offense. Meanwhile, six Jazzmen reached the double-figure mark. Collin Sexton led the way with 22 points and eight assists.
Utah will close out its homestand with games against Indiana and Golden State on Monday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 5.

Isaiah Collier has some natural leadership qualities on the court that the Jazz have been lacking since they traded Mike Conley.
He’s got better intangibles than I realized coming out of college.

Second Quarter
This Orlando Magic team badly needs a player like Collin Sexton to keep the offense afloat when Paolo isn’t on the court.
Their defense is great, but they generate so few easy baskets.

Third Quarter
I traditionally like teams that know their identity, and double down on it in the draft.
In that sense, Anthony Black’s length and defense made a lot of sense in Orlando.
But he also doubles down on the shooting/scoring weaknesses of the Magic, so he’s been a lousy fit.

Utah Jazz Host Orlando Magic To Open Month Of February
Before this game, the Utah Jazz had the worst record in the Western Conference and the second-worst record in the NBA at 10-36.
Despite having a negative record at 24-25, the Magic were in the playoff race in the East as they held the eighth seed. They were just 0.5 games from being in the top 6.
Utah and Orlando last faced off on January 5 where the Jazz pulled out a 105-92 win. It should be noted that the Magic were without their best player Paolo Banchero in that game. Since his return, he has averaged over 21 points per game with 7.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
On Saturday morning before the matchup, the Jazz made their first trade of the season involving players. They sent Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills to the Clippers for PJ Tucker, Mo Bamba, a second-round pick and cash. Eubanks and Mills were not with the team against Orlando, same with Utah’s new additions.
