SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz players took to Twitter to show their support for the Asian community after the spree shooting in Atlanta on Tuesday.

The shootings killed eight people in three separate locations, including six Asian women spread over a 30-mile radius.

The killings are the latest in a string of violence towards the Asian community that has seen a spike in discrimination over the last year in the United States.

“#StopAsianHate,” Jazz Clarkson tweeted in response to the violence.

Clarkson is of Filipino descent and played for the Philippines at the Asian Games in 2018.

All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell echoed Clarkson’s response quote tweeting his teammate with the same hashtag.

Jazz forward Georges Niang offered a similar sentiment asking for peace and compassion among all people.

“Everybody love everybody simple as that!” Niang tweeted.

The Jazz trio weren’t the only NBA players to offer support to the Asian community after the recent wave of violence.

Former Miami Heat superstar guard Dwyane Wade issued a statement condemning the violence across the country.

“The recent attacks against our brothers and sisters in the Asian American communities are heartbreaking,” Wade wrote. “The physical assaults and recent killings are rooted in racism. It needs to stop. We cannot be silent. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones due to this senseless hatred. To our Asian community — we love you and are standing united with you. Enough is enough.”

The NBA also offered its thoughts on Tuesday’s violence.

“Last night’s tragic events in Atlanta are part of a disturbing rise in violence and discrimination towards Asian Americans,” the NBA tweeted. “Today and every day, we stand with the Asian community and condemn all acts of hate and racism. To learn more visit stopaapihate.org.”
