Breaking: Jazz Land Hood-Schifino In Blockbuster Doncic, Lakers Trade

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have reportedly acquired Jalen Hood-Schifino in a blockbuster trade that will send Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis.
ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news of the trade late Saturday night.
“BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote. “Three-team deal that includes Utah.”

Jazz Involved In Blockbuster Luka Doncic, Anthony Davis Trade
According to Charania, the Jazz will take on second-year guard Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2025 Los Angeles Clippers second-round pick, and a 2025 Dallas Mavericks second-round pick.
The Jazz aren’t trading any players or draft picks to Dallas or Los Angeles according to ESPN.
The deal was so surprising that Charania had to confirm his social media account hadn’t been hacked after reporting the trade.

The Jazz completed another trade earlier Saturday that sent Patty Mills and Drew Eubanks to the Los Angeles Clippers for PJ Tucker, Mo Bamba, a 2030 second-round draft pick, and cash considerations.
Bamba was waived early Sunday to clear room for the Jazz to complete the Hood-Schifino trade.
Who Is New Jazz Guard Jalen Hood-Schifino?
Jalen Hood-Schifino was the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft, taken one slot after Jazz guard Keyonte George.
The Indiana product has rarely seen the floor for the Lakers in his first two seasons with the team.
Hood-Schifino has appeared in just 25 games averaging 1.7 points, 0.6 points, and 0.4 assists in 5.3 minutes per game.
As a freshman, Hood-Schifino averaged 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while shooting 41 percent from the floor and 33 percent from the three-point line.

The second-year guard has performed well while playing for the South Bay Lakers in the G League.
Hood-Schifino averaged 22.0 points, 5.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor and 43 percent from the three-point line.
The Lakers declined to pick up Hood-Schifino’s third-year qualifying offer, meaning he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
