Portillo’s option was not picked up following the 2021 season which explains his most recent move to New Mexico United.
The latest move marks the seventh professional club in which Portillo will sign for.
“Justin is a player who has the unique ability to control the rhythm and tempo of a game in possession. Combining this with his proven winning ability, we are excited to add Justin to our midfield group,” New Mexico United Manager and Technical Director Zach Prince said on the Portillo signing.
