SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former Utah State and current Packers quarterback Jordan Love in “probably unlikely” to play in Week 2 of the NFL preseason, according to Green Bay’s head coach Matt LaFleur.
The Packers head coach commented on Love’s status on Thursday, August 19.
The former USU standout suffered a shoulder injury during Green Bay’s opening preseason contest on August 14.
LaFleur said that Love will most likely be sidelined for the Packers’ upcoming game against the New York Jets on Saturday, August 21.
Matt LaFleur said it’s “probably unlikely” that Jordan Love (shoulder) will play on Saturday against the Jets, meaning Kurt Benkert will start. Jake Dolegala, re-signed yesterday, would be the only other QB available.

The Packers aren’t playing 2020 MVP Aaron Rodgers during the preseason and will most likely start Kurt Benkert while Love continues to recover.

Love and the Packers open the regular season against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 12 at 2:25 p.m. (MDT). That game will broadcast on FOX.
