SALT LAKE CITY – The Philadelphia Eagles promoted a pair of local NFL players from the team’s practice squad to the 53-man active roster ahead of their Week 1.
On Saturday, September 10, the NFC East franchise announced that former Utah Utes wide receiver Britain Covey and ex-Hunter High standout Noah Togiai were elevated to Philadelphia’s active roster.
“Eagles have elevated WR Britain Covey and TE Noah Togiai from the practice squad for Sunday’s game,” the Eagles announced on Twitter.

After a standout high school career at Timpview High School in Provo, Covey played at the University of Utah from 2015-21. During his Utah career, Covey had 132 receptions for 1,497 yards and eight touchdowns. On the ground, he added 35 carries for 201 yards. Covey returned the ball on punt return and kick return a total of 84 times for 1,143 yards and two touchdowns. In April, Covey signed with the Eagles after going undrafted.
Prior to his NFL career, Togiai was a standout player at Hunter High and Oregon State University. In 2020, he signed with the Eagles after going undrafted. He was waived prior to the start of the 2020 regular season. A day later, the Colts claimed Togiai off the waiver wire. The tight end suffered an injury late in his rookie season and was placed on injured reserve for a time. In September 2021, Indianapolis waived the Hunter product. A month later, Philadelphia signed Togiai to its practice squad.
Last season, the Eagles had a 9-8 record and fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Wild Card postseason game.
The Eagles vs. Lions game will kickoff on Sunday, September 11 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on FOX.
