SALT LAKE CITY – With BYU opening Fall Camp this week, Aaron Roderick sat down to talk about what makes this year’s BYU offense so much fun.
It has to do with Jaren Hall and the rest of the returning production for the Cougars.
“What’s fun about our offense is that we can put some pretty fun personnel groups on the field,” Roderick said, “We like to create issues for a defense.”

Roderick mentioned the tight end room as a particularly exciting part of the offense. BYU insider Mitch Harper broke down BYU’s depth at the tight end position here.
“The question for this group is, what role do they have in the passing attack this year? There was a significant dip in targets and receiving yards to the tight ends from the 2020 offense. So what’s in store this season?” writes Harper.

Roderick also took time to speak with Jensen about his quarterback.
“He doesn’t have a glaring weakness in his game. There’s not a magic bullet statistic or something we are trying to reach this year, all I’ve asked is just to keep improving,” the coordinator said.

He also told KSL Sports that it’s a “big deal” to have wide receiver Gunner Romney back on the team this year.
“Gunner is a bonafide deep threat,” Roderick said. “And he has been one since the day he got here.”
BYU kicks off the season on September 3 at 2:00 p.m. with a matchup against South Florida followed by a face-off with Baylor at home the following week.
