Everything was on the line for Maple Mountain and Wasatch Tuesday night as the Region 8 foes played for a berth to the 5A State football tournament. With stakes like that on the line, it’s no surprise that the game came down to the final minute, with the Golden Eagles beating the Wasps, 34-31.

It's playoff time for high school football in Utah. First up, there was some unfinished business in Region 6 and Region 8. The final playoff spot in each region was up for grabs in play-in games.

It took over a quarter for Orem to get going, but once they did, they rolled to a 59-26 road win over rival Spanish Fork Wednesday night. The win gives the Tigers the outright Region 10 title and the top seed in the 4A state playoffs.

With a 35 -0 win over crosstown-rival Bountiful High, Viewmont High secured at least a share of its third-straight region championship.

The Davis Darts defeated the rival Northridge Knights 23-14 Friday night at Northridge. In doing so, the Darts clinched a spot in the 6A state playoffs.

It came down to the last minute of the Olympus Titans’ 13-12 win over the Highland Rams Friday night at Highland High School.

The Timpview T-Birds rolled out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 51-22 victory over rival Provo.

The Kearns Cougars rolled to a 52-0 victory over Cottonwood, led by running back and return man extraordinaire Isaiah Afatasi.

Farmington High School played its first ever home game Friday night against Northridge. It was a game to remember for the Phoenix, but not because of the score.

The only thing that could slow down the East High Leopards against Jordan was a rain delay that paused the action for about an hour and 45 minutes.
