Salt Lake Bees Announce Move Out Of Salt Lake City To Daybreak

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake Bees, a triple-A baseball team in Utah, are moving to Daybreak, according to an announcement from the Larry H. Miller company.

The Larry H. Miller Company owns the minor-league baseball team and plans to build a new stadium south of their current home in South Salt Lake.

Daybreak is a “master-planned” community in South Jordan, Utah.

Details Of The Salt Lake Bees Move To Daybreak

“The privately financed stadium will serve as a year-round entertainment anchor for the fast-growing southwest quadrant of Salt Lake County. Construction will begin this year, and the stadium will open for the 2025 baseball season. Details, including the location, renderings and surrounding amenities, will be released later this year,” reads a release from ownership.

The Bees currently reside at Smith’s Ballpark, which is close to downtown Salt Lake City and right next to UTA’s Trax line. According to the release, the team’s contract at Smith’s Ballpark expires in 2024, meaning they will move to Daybreak in 2025.


“The Bees look forward to commemorating the next two seasons at Smith’s Ballpark before the current lease expires in Fall 2024. The team is grateful for the long-term legacy of baseball in Salt Lake City and for the incredible fans and surrounding community that support the team,” the release states.

Smith’s Ballpark History

On the corner 1300 South & West Temple, Smith’s Ballpark opened in 1994 as Franklin Quest Field, home of the Salt Lake Bees. At the time, the 15,400 person seating capacity was the largest in the Pacific Coast League.

The park has held several different names since opening, including Franklin Covey Field, Spring Mobile Ballpark & since 2014, Smith’s Ballpark.

Salt Lake Bees 2023 Season

The Bees, a Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels are scheduled to open the 2023 season at home against the Sacramento River Cats on Friday, March 31. They will play a 150 game schedule this year with the River Cats also serving as the last opponent of the year as the season concluded on Sunday, September 24.
