SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Four NBA players have tested positive for COVID-19 in the league’s latest round of testing according to the NBA and the NBA Players Association.
The four positive tests came out of a possible 498 players tested for the virus since December 30. Last week zero of the league’s 495 players who were tested returned positive results.
“Anyone who has returned a confirmed positive test is isolated until they are cleared for leaving isolation under the rules established by the NBA and the Players Associated in accordance with CDC guidance.”

Players are tested daily during the NBA season, including before games to prevent widespread infection. Results from the daily testing take between 30 minutes and 90 minutes depending on if a team is at home or on the road.
The league also requires players to quarantine for a period of at least seven days if they have come in close contact with the virus during the season, even if they return a negative COVID-19 test.
On Monday, the NBA issued a mandate that NBA players wear facemasks while sitting on their benches during games.
