ORLANDO, Fla. – Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell had an outstanding performance in primetime but it wasn’t enough in their 116-108 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was the second straight loss for the Jazz in the NBA restart and are now 1-2 in reseeding games.

Mitchell had 33 points while shooting 9 of 22 from the field, 4 for 10 from the three point line and 11 of 12 from the free throw line. He also pulled down 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Mike Conley’s Big Performance

Conley had a big performance for the Jazz and continues to find his groove in his first season with the Jazz. The veteran finished with 24 points and 8 assists. He shot 8 of 17 from the floor, 3 for 9 from the perimeter and a perfect 5 of 5 at the foul line. Conley did a tremendous job being aggressive in the pick-and-roll and finding Gobert for lobs while getting his own points.

Rudy Gobert had a perfect shooting night from the field, going 6 for 6 and went 4 for 5 from the free throw line, finishing with 16 points and 13 boards.

Jordan Clarkson Struggles

For the second straight game, Jordan Clarkson struggled offensively. Clarkson went 4 for 17 from the field for 11 points in Utah’s loss to Oklahoma City on Saturday. The Jazz sixth man recorded six points on 2 of 13 field goal shooting and 1 for 9 from beyond the arc in 20 minutes played.

Clarkson scored six of Utah’s 25 bench points. Emmanuel Mudiay led the second unit with 7 points, Tony Bradley had 5 points, Georges Niang added 4 points and Juwan Morgan nailed a three-pointer.

Lakers Clinch West

With the win over the Jazz, the Lakers improved their record to 51-15. They have clinched the top spot in the Western Conference.

Anthony Davis led all scorers with 42 points and 11 rebounds. He shot 13 of 28 from the floor, 4 for 8 from downtown and 12 of 15 at the free throw line. LeBron James added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists.

Utah dropped their record to 42-25 on the season. They moved down to the fifth spot in the Western Conference standings, a half of a game behind Houston for the fourth spot, and two games behind Denver for the third seed. Utah is a half of a game ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are in sixth place currently and are three games ahead of the seventh seed Dallas Mavericks.

The Jazz will be off on Tuesday before returning to action on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.
