Roberts’s return gives BYU a star receiver heading into the 2025 season.
Earlier in the week, BYU offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick was excited about a “really good team coming back” for the 2025 season. Clearly, Roberts was a big reason for that excitement as the American Fork native has emerged as a standout receiver for the Cougars.
This season, Roberts leads BYU in receiving yards (843) and receptions (51). He’s also tied for the most receiving touchdowns this season (4).
Roberts considered moving on to the NFL after this season as he was honored during Senior Day festivities during the home finale against Houston three weeks ago. Instead, he’s getting set to return for one final year.
Roberts’s first test after his announcement will be against Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter from Colorado in the Alamo Bowl next Saturday in San Antonio.
The production from Roberts in 2024 has put him among some of the greats in BYU football history. He’s currently 21st all-time in career receiving yards at BYU. Another 16 receiving yards would put him in the top 20, passing former tight end Jonny Harline.
If Roberts has another 800+ yards in 2025, as he’s produced this year, he could get close to the top five for career receiving yards in BYU football history.
BYU’s wide receiver unit in 2025 brings back Roberts, Keelan Marion, Parker Kingston, and talented underclassmen Cody Hagen and Tei Nacua, among others.
