SALT LAKE CITY- The Utah Jazz look to build on their momentum from Thursday night when they held off the Dallas Mavericks 115-113 for their first home victory of the year. Tonight they traveled to Sacramento to take on the Kings for a late Saturday matchup in their first of a four-game road trip.
The first quarter saw the Kings start strong as they made seven three-pointers, but the Jazz shot eleven free throws, making the score at the end of the first 35-31.
Utah continued their push in the second quarter, out-scoring the Kings to make it a one-point deficit at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Jazz took control thanks to a strong performance from Keyonte George, who ended the night with 19 points, shooting 60% from the floor. Utah led by as many as 11 in the third but took a 94-90 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Jazz defended their lead as it appeared that fatigue had begun to set in for Sacramento who was playing their second game in two days. However, De’Aaron Fox kept the Kings in it with a hefty 49-point performance just 24 hours after putting up 60.
The Jazz held the lead until the 1:04 mark, but then Jordan McLaughlin hit a three-pointer to put the Kings up by two, gaining a lead that they would not relinquish. Despite leading for the majority of the second half, the Jazz would go on to lose.
