KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson provided an updated weather report for Saturday night’s big in-state showdown.
Weather Forecast for The BYU-Utah Rivalry Game
“Fans headed to the Utah vs BYU game should definitely bundle up Saturday night,” said KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson. “Daytime highs in the 50s will quickly dip off at sunset with clear skies overhead. Look for kickoff temps to be in the low 40s at 8:00 pm with upper 30s possible toward the end of the 4th quarter around midnight. There may be occasional light breezes out of the east during the game.”

Both teams will be prepared for the conditions. Given the drastic dip in temps throughout the state. Utah being at home will be an advantage, so long as fans show up prepared for the long night.
“Being at Rice-Eccles is always an added bonus,” head coach Kyle Whittingham said of being at home this year. “That’s a big home field advantage for us and we’ve got a pretty good record at home. We love playing at Rice-Eccles in front of all our fans— and we need them all there early, we’re making a push to get that stadium filled well before kickoff.”
