SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson has been diagnosed with a heel injury and will be re-evaluated in one week.

The Jazz announced the guard was suffering from plantar fasciitis on Friday, one day after the team’s loss at home to the San Antonio Spurs.

“Jordan Clarkson began experiencing left heel pain during the third quarter of last night’s game vs. San Antonio,” the team said. “He has been diagnosed with left plantar fasciitis. He will continue treatment and will be re-evaluated in one week.”

The Jazz will play in Denver, Chicago, and Milwaukee before the guard is re-evaluated.

Clarkson Moved Into Starting Lineup For Jazz Before Injury

Amid the Jazz’s early struggles, Clarkson had been moved into the team’s starting lineup in place of Collin Sexton.

The former Sixth Man of the Year award winner averaged 13.7 points over his first three games of the Jazz season coming off the bench, but set a season-high with 21 points in the team’s loss to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday playing with the starters.

Clarkson played just 21 minutes against the Spurs scoring three points on 1-6 shooting before exiting the game.

The longest-tenured member of the team and the lone holdover from the Quin Snyder, Donovan Mitchell, and Rudy Gobert era, Clarkson is in his sixth season with the Jazz.

Collin Sexton Has Broken Finger

Collin Sexton was diagnosed with a finger Distal Interphalangeal (DIP) joint avulsion fracture to the fourth finger on his left hand.

The guard was injured in the third quarter of Thursday’s loss but plans to play through the injury, pain permitting.

Sexton is averaging 14.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in 23 minutes per game.
