U.S. Men’s Soccer Eliminated In Olympic Quarterfinals

PARIS, France – The United States men’s soccer team was eliminated from the 2024 Paris Olympics with a 4-0 setback against Morocco.
Morocco remains in medal contention as they advance to the Olympic semifinals. The men’s soccer semifinals will be played on Monday, August 5.

With the crowd decidedly behind them, Morocco applied heavy pressure from the opening kick. United States keeper Patrick Schulte made several excellent saves, but a penalty shot ultimately got the Moroccans on the scoreboard. After a Nathan Harriel foul, Soufiane Rahimi beat Schulte in the bottom left corner.
The U.S. went into halftime trailing 1-0.

The wheels fell off in the second half as Morocco pulled away. Moments after the American’s best scoring chance in the 59th minute, Morocco’s Abde Ezzalzouli hit Ilias Akhomach for a close-range goal that made it 2-0.
Morocco added goals in the 70th minute and a fourth in stoppage time for the final 4-0 score.
Eden, Utah native Taylor Booth checked into the match in the 66th minute with his team trailing 2-0.
