PARIS – Park City resident Grant Fisher claimed a bronze medal in the Men’s 10,000m Final at the Paris Olympics on Friday.
Fisher is the first American to medal in the 10k event in over a decade and just the third since 1964.

Late Push Propels Grant Fisher To Podium
With a final time of 26:43.46, Fisher was just two-hundredths of a second short of second place.
He was near the front of the pack for almost the entire race. However, when it came down to the final lap, Fisher had some ground to make up.
On pure willpower, Fisher pushed ahead of almost everyone in front of him to take second.
Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi had a final stretch push of his own that created a photo finish between all three of the podium makers.

With the Team USA history in the 10k aside, there was a lot riding on this race for Fisher individually.
In his Olympic debut at the 2021 Tokyo Games, he narrowly missed out on a spot on the podium, finishing less than three seconds slower than the bronze medalist.
Then, at the 2022 World Finals in Eugene, Fisher placed fourth in the 10k event.
Fisher is the second Utah local to win a medal in Paris up to this point. He joins Haley Batten, who now holds the highest mountain biking Olympic medal in U.S. history with her second-place finish earlier this week.
