Another First For Utah Baseball As Bryson Van Sickle Earns Pitcher Of The Year

SALT LAKE CITY – 2024 has brought forth several firsts and records for Utah baseball and they added one more ahead of their first Pac-12 Tournament game against USC after Bryson Van Sickle was named the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Year.

Van Sickle’s recognition is the first individual award the Utes have brought home in the Pac-12 era and the first since CJ Cron earned Mountain West Player of the Year in 2011.

Van Sickle also earned a spot on the All-Conference Team and was joined by three other teammates (infielder Core Jackson, outfielder Kai Roberts, and reliever Micah Ashman) as first-teamers. The Utes’ four first-team selections ties for the most with the 2016 year in the Pac-12 Era.

Additionally, Utah baseball had outfielder TJ Clarkson named as an honorable mention.

Up Next For Bryson Van Sickle, Utah Baseball

The Utes are currently in Scottsdale, Arizona preparing for their first game of the Pac-12 Tournament against the USC Trojans which takes place at 3:30 pm MT on May 21 on Pac-12 Networks.

Utah will then return to the field at least one more time on Wednesday, May 22. That game will be against the Oregon Ducks, also at 3:30 pm MT and on Pac-12 Networks.

If the Utes handle their business the next two days, they will have an opportunity to advance to the semifinals on Friday, May 24.
