Blake Anderson Says Utah State Will Go Forward With Legas At QB

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State football head coach Blake Anderson joined the KSL Sports Zone to go over the week ten victory over SDSU and the rest of the season.
The Aggies pulled out an impressive double overtime victory over the San Diego State Aztecs last week. Anderson said that he attempted to highlight the entire team’s performance following the win.
“The first thing I did with the team was rally them all,” Anderson said. “We really stay away from talking about individuals. We talk about the team and the team effort almost all the time.”

USU has gone through a lot of changes this season, specifically at the quarterback position. The goal has remained the same though. Pull out a win every week.
“Every position adjustment and change that happens on a daily basis across the roster is what gives us the best chance to win,” Anderson said.
With McCae Hillstead still sidelined with an injury, Anderson said that Cooper Legas has earned his starting spot back. The situation will be looked at after Hillstead returns but the Aggies have confidence in the senior quarterback.
“At this point, I feel like (Cooper Legas) gives us the best chance to win,” Anderson said. “If he went back in and played as a veteran guy and didn’t put the ball in harm’s way, then he’s earned the right to play. We’ll be moving forward with (Legas).”

Utah State looks to move to 5-5 with a win over Nevada in week 11. Anderson said that the game will be a tough one but the guys in Logan are ready for the challenge.
“I think they are way better than their record,” Anderson said. “They do a lot of really good things defensively. They’ve played really well in man coverage. Offensively, they don’t look a lot like San Diego State so adapting to what we’re going to see will be important for us.”
