PROVO, Utah – While BYU football has struggled recently, the CougarTail game has been elite this season.
Last month, BYU rolled out a bacon-covered CougarTail that was genuinely outstanding. I’m not kidding. BYU Dining Services needs to make that a permanent fixture. To keep the variety coming on the CougarTail, BYU is bringing out another fan favorite.
BYU will have chocolate CougarTails at Saturday’s game against Iowa State.

Folks, this isn’t a drill.
The chocolate CougarTail is rolling out because BYU football will wear blackout uniforms against the Cyclones.
History of BYU selling chocolate CougarTail
BYU had chocolate CougarTail’s last season for the Arkansas game, despite being a whiteout. Initially, BYU was going to wear blackout uniforms against the Hogs in Provo, but once Notre Dame opted for a whiteout in Las Vegas, BYU adjusted accordingly and made switches.
Having a night game with a blackout and chocolate CougarTails hits nicely.
BYU also had chocolate CougarTails in 2012 against Oregon State and in 2020 on Halloween night versus Western Kentucky. Last academic year, BYU Dining Services brought out the chocolate CougarTail for Senior Day in men’s basketball.
It’s not often the chocolate CougarTail gets released, so expect quantities to be limited.

BYU Dining Services is offering pre-orders of four-packs leading up to Saturday night’s game. While inside LaVell Edwards Stadium on gameday, you can purchase a single CougarTail.
The 2023-24 athletic season marks the 20th year the CougarTail has been sold at BYU sporting events.
