Utah State Beats South Dakota Mines In Impressive Season-Opener

LOGAN, Utah – Danny Sprinkle became the 14th head coach in program history to win his game at Utah State, leading the Aggies to a 101-48 win over South Dakota Mines.
USU opened the 2023-24 season at home against South Dakota Mines on Monday, November 6.

South Dakota Mines opened fast, taking a 6-3 less than two minutes into the game. The Miners wouldn’t score again for more than six minutes. During that time, the Aggies used a 16-point run to take a 19-6 lead.
Utah State’s defense controlled the action, limiting SDMU to 34 percent first-half shooting and 28.6 percent for the game. The Miners made 4-of-26 shots from deep. USU forced 15 turnovers, five steals, and blocked three shots as a team.
Josh Uduje’s perfect 8-for-8 shooting led the Aggies with 19 points, reaching double-figures for the first time as an Aggie. Great Osobor scored 14 points and just missed a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds in 18 minutes of action.

Redshirt freshman Mason Falslev filled up the box score, pouring in 17 points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing out five assists, and finishing with a team-high four steals.
11 Aggies played at least eight minutes in the 53-point win, the 11th-largest in program history. This is the first time USU opened the season by scoring at least 100 points since 2018-19 when they defeated Montana State 101-71.
